aging_skin(2)Youthful skin can be reclaimed by paying attention to the inside, as well as the outside! I did a little research for you and simplified it for a quick and easy reference 🙂

Here are some simple changes in your daily routine that can yield amazing results in retaining healthy, youthful looking skin.

  1. Stay hydrated! Your skin contains plenty of water, and functions as a protective barrier to prevent excess fluid loss. Dehydration makes your skin look more dry and wrinkled, which can be improved with proper hydration.
  2. Healthy Eating! Eating foods that are rich in antioxidants and good fats, can have a positive impact on your whole body, including your skin. Cut back on sugar, salt and processed foods. Be sure to include berries, dark green vegetables, nuts and healthy oils in your diet.
  3. Stop Smoking! Smoking has been known to cause a dull and dry complexion, a loss of skin firmness, and premature lines and wrinkles.
  4. Get Enough Sleep! This is interesting: In a first-of-its-kind clinical trial, physician-scientists found that sleep quality impacts skin function and aging. The study, commissioned by Estée Lauder, demonstrated that poor sleepers had increased signs of skin aging and slower recovery from a variety of environmental stressors, such as disruption of the skin barrier or ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Poor sleepers also had worse assessment of their own skin and facial appearance.
  5. Protect your skin from sun damage! Use sunscreen daily, stay in the shade during peak sun hours of 10 am and 2 pm, cover your skin and wear sunglasses.
  6. Stop Indoor Tanning!  Indoor tanning has been known to accelerate skin aging.
  7. Wash Your Face 2x A Day! Use warm water and a soap free cleanser and don’t scrub your skin
  8. Moisturize Daily! Choose a good quality moisturizer, with natural ingredients.
